William H. Seward signed Civil War letter. Fine very early autograph letter signed, Auburn, Nov. 19, 1838 to Ph. Schuyler Van Rensselaer regarding an application for the position of State Librarian. Together with a Mystic Rare Stamp Co. invoice. William H. Seward was Lincoln’s Secretary of State and survived the assassination plot carried out the night Lincoln was shot.
